Job summary

Tetra Tech in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking an Engineering Department Manager to lead and grow our multidisciplinary engineering team across process, mechanical, geotechnical, civil, structural, EI&C, CADD and related fields.

The role supervises and mentors engineers, manages workload and resources, supports project delivery, engages in proposals, and helps recruit and develop staff while upholding safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field.
• PE license required.
• 10+ years engineering experience.
• 5+ years leadership experience.
• Experience in energy or industrial sectors.
• Strong writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and mentorship to a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Manage departmental workload, staffing, and technical direction.
• Support project managers with planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Review deliverables for quality and compliance.
• Recruiting, onboarding, and professional development of staff.
• Coordinate across disciplines for efficient project execution.
• Ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
