Job summary

Millennium Broadband Solutions in Madison, WI seeks a Director of Engineering to lead the Engineering Business Unit, owning margin, budgeting, and operational performance. You will oversee staffing plans, project delivery economics, and KPI-driven reporting, partnering with the VP on strategic planning to sustain client satisfaction and long-term profitability.

You will mentor senior engineers, build leadership depth, and drive cross-functional collaboration with engineering, finance, and sales

Qualifications

• 10+ years in telecom, fiber infrastructure, or capital-project environments.
• Direct accountability for a unit's margin, budget, and cost structure.
• Experience designing KPIs and delivering monthly management reports.
• Fluency with ERP/BI tools and presenting performance to executives.
• Experience building leadership benches and succession plans.
• Ability to operate as a peer to a VP with non-overlapping accountability.

Responsibilities

• Own gross margin and EBITDA performance for the Engineering Business Unit.
• Own annual budget, forecasting, and staffing plans for the unit.
• Own cost structures and delivery economics in relation to client rate cards.
• Design and monitor departmental KPIs via NetSuite/Domo.
• Own backlog, workload forecasting, and resource allocation across projects.
• Own client retention and proactive response to client needs.
• Own tool and technology evaluation for the unit.
• Own monthly reporting to management on status and metrics.
• Own succession planning and leadership development pipeline.
