Job summary

AXA XL in Stamford, CT seeks an Engineering & Construction Underwriter to underwrite and service profitable new and renewal business, leveraging knowledge of policy terms and coverage. You will work with NA Facultative Reinsurance and Property teams, manage relationships with brokers, and drive market share through strategic marketing activities.

You will report to the Head of NA Facultative Reinsurance and contribute to training, P&D planning, and audit compliance while delivering high-quality

Qualifications

• The candidate must have experience in the insurance industry, with an emphasis on Engineering and/or Construction commercial property insurance/reinsurance.
• Understand policy rating and be proficient in the use of policy rating systems.
• Familiarity with policy and contract wording.
• Math aptitude.
• Outstanding PC skills.
• Underwriter must be detail oriented and accurate, have demonstrated organizational skills and flexibility, have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
• Ability to apply creative, analytical and mathematical skills to problem-solving; have the ability to work without supervision, have excellent customer focus, responsiveness and multi-tasking abilities.
• Team-oriented and have a consistent commitment to excellence, have the ability to enter information accurately and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and produce individual risk accounts to meet annual goals.
• Maintain client/broker contacts and relationships.
• Contribute to NA Reinsurance and Property facultative audit process.
• Manage risk T&E expenditures with NA Facultative Reinsurance head.
• Develop annual personal P&D plans with NA Reinsurance and Property Fac leadership.
• Participate in training and onboarding of new hires.
• Underwrite terms, conditions, and pricing for NA Reinsurance and property facultative business.
• Ensure audit results meet guidelines and regulations.
• Communicate with underwriting, actuarial, legal, claims teams to ensure profitability.
• Service a book of business; assist with endorsements and large loss meetings.
• Participate in strategic marketing and broker visits.
