Job summary

AXA XL is seeking an Engineering & Construction Underwriter in Hartford. The role underwrites and services profitable new and renewal business, builds broker relationships, and supports market growth while coordinating with NA Facultative Reinsurance leadership.

You will report to the Head of NA Facultative Reinsurance and collaborate with actuarial, legal, underwriting, and claims teams to ensure profitability and service quality for the book of business.

Qualifications

• Experience in the insurance industry with emphasis on Engineering/Construction commercial property insurance/reinsurance.
• Understanding of policy rating and proficiency with policy rating systems.
• Familiarity with policy and contract wording.
• Strong math aptitude and outstanding PC skills.
• Detail oriented, organized, adaptable and able to communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and produce individual risk accounts to meet annual goals.
• Maintain client and broker contacts and relationships.
• Contribute to NA Reinsurance and Property facultative audit processes.
• Coordinate risk expenditures with NA Facultative Reinsurance leadership.
• Develop annual personal P&D plan with leadership.
• Participate in training and onboarding for new hires.
• Establish terms, conditions, and pricing for new/renewal facultative business.
• Ensure audit results meet guidelines and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, legal, and claims staff to ensure profitability.
• Service a book of business, review endorsements, and participate in meetings.
• Support marketing and business development and broker visits as needed.
• Work in a team to achieve high performance and improve efficiency.
