Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking an engineer designer CAD drafter to perform daily CAD drafting tasks and related clerical duties. You will create, revise and maintain engineering drawings and facility documents under supervision, and collect information from sketches, field notes, and vendor data for accurate records.

The role requires proficiency in CAD and Microsoft Office, with overtime and travel up to 10% anticipated.

Qualifications

Associate degree in AAS drafting and CAD or related engineering technology.
Equivalent experience with high school diploma and four years of drafting experience may be considered.
Overtime, call-out overtime and shift work, as required.

Responsibilities

Create, revise and maintain engineering and record drawings, and sketches.
Support creation, revision, and maintenance of facilities and equipment documents.
Obtain information from verbal communication, sketches, field notes, and site visits.
Perform mathematical calculations as needed for assigned work.
Proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft Office.
Coordinate with other company organizations to ensure safe, efficient work.
Read vendor prints and incorporate information into work.
Assist in training AEP employees in basic skills of the position.
Promote and support AEP safety programs and corporate policies.
Demonstrate ethical behavior as per corporate policies.
Support corporate compliance policies.
Assume other duties as assigned.
