Job summary

GovCIO is seeking an Engineer Scientist to support Navy Fleet Submarine VLF/LF broadcasts in Charleston, SC. This on-site role requires deep knowledge of radio transmitters, RF systems, and C4ISR engineering with extensive field experience.

Travel to customer sites is expected, and the candidate will work with the engineering team to update 3D models and installation designs. Minimum 10 years’ experience, a relevant BS degree, and a SECRET clearance are required.

Qualifications

  • Clearance Required: SECRET.
  • 10+ years of experience with radio transmitters, antenna tuning systems and related fields including installation, test and evaluation of VLF/LF submarine broadcast transmitters.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Experience in technical engineering support for C4ISR systems and in preparing/modifying engineering drawings and documents.
  • Understanding of Allen Bradley-like control systems, high voltage RF, RF tuning networks, and electrical/electronic theory.

Responsibilities

  • Provide installation support and troubleshooting for telecommunications equipment.
  • Install, configure, terminate, and test cables, interfaces and related gear.
  • Develop mounting solutions and fabrication approaches.
  • Collaborate with engineering to maintain 3D models for platforms.
  • Assist production with integration design and equipment installations.
  • Review drawings, markups, and coordinate changes with engineering.
  • Gather requirements, perform site surveys, and coordinate with clients and officials.
  • Analyze materials for BOM and recommend hardware/connectors.
  • Support maintenance documentation and provide tech support elsewhere.
  • Travel to customer sites to resolve equipment issues.
  • Use test equipment to identify and repair faults.
  • Assist in Installation Design Package development and drawing reviews.
  • Act as a technical specialist for complex fabrication designs.

GovCIO is currently hiring for an Engineer Scientist to provide technical support to the Navy’s Fleet Submarine Very Low and Low-Frequency Broadcast Engineering Support team. This position will be located in Charleston, SC and will be an onsite position.

Responsibilities
  • Provides installation support, technical expertise, and troubleshooting for all telecommunications equipment and components
  • Support installation, configuration, termination, and testing for all telecommunications equipment, cables, connectors, and interfaces.
  • Develop and provide solutions for fabrication and mounting requirements.
  • Works with engineering team to provide input, maintain and update 3D Models for New and existing platforms
  • Support production team with integration design and equipment installations for cabinets and assemblies
  • Review drawings for accuracy and required changes, provide markups to coordinate changes with the engineering team
  • Gather technical requirements, conduct site surveys and engage with clients, constructions crews, utility personnel, and various government departments.
  • Conduct analysis and provide recommendations for hardware, connectors and cable fabrication materials to support development for the Bill of Materials
  • Support the development of maintenance documentation and provide technical support in other areas.
  • Travel to customer sites to trouble shoot and resolve equipment and system issues
  • Utilize test equipment to identify and repair systems and equipment issues
  • Support Installation Design Package development, drawing reviews and provide proposed solutions for the design
  • Serves as a technical specialist for the resolution of complex fabrication designs.
Qualifications

High School with 9+ years (or commensurate experience)

Required Skills And Experience
  • Clearance Required: SECRET
  • Ten (10) years of experience with radio transmitters, antenna tuning systems, antennas, electromagnetic propagation and allied fields, to include: specialized experience with installation, test and evaluation of VLF/LF submarine broadcast transmitters.
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Ten (10) years of practical experience to include:

Technical engineering support for C4ISR systems.

Minimum ten (5) year of experience, including design, preparation and modification of engineering documents, and drawings.

Understanding and/or experience desired in Allen Bradley Control Systems architecture, High Voltage RF, Corona Treatments, RF Tuning Networks

Ability to interpret and implement electronic, electrical, mechanical, and installation schematics and drawings

Proficiency in using miscellaneous test equipment such as oscilloscopes and signal generators

Ability to design and fabricate metal and 3D Printed mounting fixtures

Understanding of electrical and electronic theory

Methodical engineering approach with exceptional attention to detail

Preferred Skills And Experience

Electrical installation and systems installation knowledge and experience.

BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or Physics with Six (6) years of experience with high powered radio transmitters, antenna tuning systems, antennas, electromagnetic propagation and allied fields, to include: Systems Analysis, Systems Architecture, Systems/Equipment Support, Test and Evaluation, and Logistics support of C4ISR requirements

Three (3) years of technical experience in support of installing, modifying, repairing or testing high power radio transmitting systems. Experience may be achieved simultaneously.

Posted Salary Range: USD $100,000.00 - USD $120,000.00 /Yr.
