Job summary

Digital Consultants seeks an Engineer 3 to provide technical support to the Navy’s Fleet Submarine Very Low and Low-Frequency Broadcast Engineering Support team. The role involves installation, testing, calibration, and maintenance of RF telecom equipment at multiple sites, with supervision of technicians and contractors.

The ideal candidate has extensive RF knowledge, strong circuit design and MS Project experience, and a willingness to work in a rigorous field environment.

Qualifications

  • Ten (10) years of practical experience in RF Communication Systems.
  • Four (4) years of experience, including installation of such equipment.
  • One (1) year of experience, including design, preparation, and modification of engineering documents, and drawings.
  • Experience with Multisim or PSPICE.
  • Knowledge of electricity and radio theory, including transistors, solid-state components, vacuum tube theory, and digital techniques applying to ground radio communications.
  • Ability to interpret and implement electronic, electrical, mechanical, and installation drawings.
  • Proficiency in using oscilloscopes and signal generators.
  • Depth of knowledge in electrical and electronic theory.
  • Experience with MS Project and system installation planning.
  • Secret clearance desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provides installation, technical expertise, and training for all telecommunications equipment and components.
  • Installs, configures, terminates, and tests all telecommunications equipment, cables, connectors, and interfaces.
  • Performs alignment and calibration procedures to ensure telecommunication systems are operating efficiently.
  • Maintains telecommunication equipment inventory, asset management, and facilities at various sites.
  • Troubleshoots RF system problems and may supervise technicians and contractors.
  • Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and performs maintenance per manufacturer specs.
  • Supports design, implementation, diagnostics, and operations in the telecommunications function.
  • Gathers requirements, surveys, and engages with clients, crews, and departments.
  • Tests, troubleshoots, and repairs circuit boards/cards.
  • Handles wiring and cabling installation and termination tasks.
  • Provides field reporting as required.
  • Assists with high voltage understanding and safety.
