Job summary

SAIC is seeking an Engineering Technician for our customer site in North Charleston, SC to support the US Navy to install cable, mounting kits and other equipment in radio rooms of new construction submarines.

Responsibilities include collaborating with others to prepare design drawings, assist with design evaluations, integrate and fabricate cables, and support various tests. Requires an Associate’s degree or equivalent and active Secret clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or formal electronics training; or equivalent
  • Five or seven years of practical experience to include design, preparation and modification of engineering documents and drawings
  • Experience with installation and integration in C4ISR systems is required
  • Must be able to obtain full Secret clearance; US citizen required

Description

SAIC is seeking an Engineering Technician for our customer site in North Charleston, SC to support the US Navy to install cable, mounting kits and other equipment in radio rooms of new construction submarines.

Job Description
  • Work with others who prepare design drawings and assist with the design, evaluation, and/or modification of machinery and equipment.
  • Integrate and fabricate cables.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education
  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science; or Formal electronics training from Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or four-year electronics apprentice program; or High School diploma or GED.
Experience
  • Five (5) with degree/formal training or seven (7) years with HS/GED of practical experience to include design, preparation and modification of engineering documents and drawings. Individual shall have notable experience performing one or a combination of the following duties constructing components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment; may troubleshoot and correct malfunctions; following specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment; conducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data; extracting and compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation; and assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications, and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information. Individual shall be capable of performing assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.
Specific Experience
  • Four (4) years of practical experience in C4ISR systems, C4ISR land-based vehicular platforms or related C4ISR systems/subsystems. Experience, to include installation of such equipment. Two (2) year of experience, to include design, preparation and modification of engineering documents, and drawings. Three (3) years of experience in task C4ISR systems, C4ISR land-based vehicular platforms or related C4ISR systems/subsystems, of which 2 must have been performed within the last 3 years. Note Experience may be achieved simultaneously.
Required Clearance
  • Must be able to obtain a full Secret Clearance; Interim Secret required prior to hire, SAIC will help to obtain.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
