Job summary

SCT is seeking multiple Engineer/Physical Scientist candidates to support the DOE/NNSA NA-11. Positions may be junior or senior; duties include technical reviews, program management support, and analyses for stockpile stewardship and experimental science.

Work will be at DOE/NNSA facilities in the Washington, DC area with potential travel. Salary range is $125,000–$250,000 annually; comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or doctorate in engineering, physics, or closely related physical science.
• At least five years of relevant experience at NNSA, an NNSA national laboratory, or equivalent.
• Experience in high energy density physics, primary or secondary weapons physics, nuclear physics, energetic materials, or applied explosives research.
• Current DOE Q clearance or ability to obtain and maintain it.
• Ability to translate complex scientific or engineering information into clear, defensible recommendations and decision-support materials.
• Experience supporting R&D projects, technical programs, experiments, or formal reviews.
• Strong technical writing, briefing, collaboration, and stakeholder-communication skills.
• Willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific and engineering expertise to NA-11 research, development, testing, evaluation, and experiments.
• Serve as a technical advisor or program management specialist for planning, execution, and evaluation of projects.
• Review project data sheets, plans, and documentation for technical sufficiency and relevance.
• Evaluate ongoing programs for viability, progress, and KPIs; identify coordination opportunities.
• Review nuclear weapons-related information and supporting documents.
• Develop and conduct technical reviews of projects, programs and activities.
• Participate on technical review teams evaluating risk, schedules, and workforce needs.
• Prepare clear assessments, white papers, briefing materials and technical reports.
• Provide rapid analysis for time-sensitive congressional and departmental requests.
• Support annual plans, milestones, and program management documentation.
• Gather and report scientific, financial, schedule, and performance data.
