Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks Engineer Intern Applicants to support construction project delivery, field engineering, and compliance reviews across District Parishes. Training is provided and advancement through the Engineering series is possible.

District 58: Franklin, Caldwell, La Salle, Catahoula, Concordia, Tensas

DOTD is seeking an Engineer Intern Applicant – Engineer Intern 2 to support transportation projects and programs. This position supports the development, delivery, maintenance, or improvement of transportation infrastructure by applying engineering principles, conducting technical analysis, coordinating projects, and conducting compliance-related reviews.
No prior engineering experience is required — training is provided, with opportunities for career progression and advancement through the Engineering job series.
Positions are located in the above-listed Parishes, and reports to Engineer Supervisor.
Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
Note: This is a temporary position to be utilized while the incumbent is securing a Louisiana Engineer Intern certificate. Permanent status shall be denied to incumbents occupying this position.

Career Progression: This Position is part of a Career Progression Group and may be filled as Engineer Intern Applicant, Engineer Intern 1, or Engineer Intern 2.
Below is the starting rate of pay for the Engineer Intern Applicant level, and the Special Entrance Rates (SER) for the additional levels in this job series:
Engineer Intern Applicant - $24.04 hourly / $1,923.20 Biweekly - Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
Engineer Intern 1 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $33.66 hourly / $2,692.80 Biweekly. Possession of a current Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
Engineer Intern 2 - Special Entrance Rate (SER) $36.02 hourly / $2,881.60 Biweekly. Possession of a current Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate plus one year of professional engineering experience.
Appointment Type: This position may be filled as a job appointment or probational appointment. A job appointment is a temporary appointment that may last up to 36 months. If filled as a job appointment, the position may be converted to a probational appointment in the future.
