Job summary

DNREC seeks an Engineer III to implement State and Federal regulations protecting public health and the environment. You will review water and wastewater permit applications, evaluate monitoring reports, and assess design documents to ensure compliance.

You will perform calculations, data modeling, and prepare letters, memoranda and testimony to support permitting and enforcement actions, with opportunities for telework per policy.

Qualifications

• Possession of a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Civil, Chemical and Environmental Engineering or official notice of passing the FE examination (NCEES).
• At least four years experience in Civil, Chemical and Environmental Engineering.
• Knowledge of engineering project management including planning, scheduling, staffing, coordinating, controlling, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the status of engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Review water and wastewater permit applications, monitoring reports and related documents to ensure compliance with state/federal regulations.
• Prepare calculations, data modeling, permits, letters, memoranda, presentations and testimony to support permitting, compliance and enforcement actions.
• Develop designs, plans and specifications; coordinate with municipalities and counties with jurisdiction; issue permits and provide guidance.
