Job summary

Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) seeks a senior engineering authority in wastewater permitting to provide expert review of major infrastructure projects and lead treatment and disposal initiatives.

They will support permitting modernization by developing technical standards, guidance, and performance metrics while ensuring compliance with state and federal environmental regulations.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid Delaware Professional Engineering License OR a valid PE license from another U.S. authority.
  • At least five years experience in Chemical, Civil, Environmental, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Three years experience in engineering project management including planning, scheduling, staffing, coordinating, controlling, monitoring, evaluating and reporting.
  • One year experience in Environmental or Water Resource and Protection field.

Responsibilities

  • Drafts, develops and modifies engineering designs, plans and specifications.
  • Reviews permit applications, blueprints and/or designs to ensure compliance with specs and regs.
  • Applies science and math to research and solve technical problems.
  • Plans and conducts field studies, surveys and investigations to collect data and ensure legal conformance.
  • Tests or evaluates materials, equipment, systems and facilities.
  • Plans and coordinates engineering projects.
  • Reviews, analyzes and reports on project status and regulatory conformance.
  • Develops cost estimates for project time and materials.
  • Provides technical guidance and training to staff.
