Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation is seeking an Engineer II/III to perform protection relay engineering, studies, and settings development for substation relays in the Carolinas West Transmission Region. You will support project integration, field troubleshooting, and ongoing documentation for complex protection schemes.

Ideal candidates have ABET engineering degrees, 2 to 4+ years experience, and familiarity with protection tools, NERC standards, and relay systems.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science in Engineering required (Master's considered in lieu).
  • FE exam passed or equivalently active fundamentals certification.
  • Familiarity with protection tools and relay protection schemes.
  • Knowledge of NERC PRC standards and CIP standards is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide protective relay engineering expertise to identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Plan and execute work with defined scope, schedule, and estimates.
  • Conduct engineering and related studies and produce technical documents.
  • Create/update technical schematics and configuration files for planned projects.
  • Prepare reports, calculations, and sketches for analyses and deliverables.
  • Maintain and grow technical and professional skills.
  • Coordinate with teammate and stakeholder teams and maintain records.
