Job summary

Weber Blackstone is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer for New Product Development in Palatine, IL. You’ll design and develop mechanical and electro‑mechanical systems using CAD, prepare prototypes, and work with cross‑functional teams to meet product goals.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and 3–5 years of related experience. This hybrid position involves in‑office days at the Palatine campus and collaboration across Quality, Manufacturing, and Suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–5 years’ experience in a related field with design for regulatory and safety requirements.
• SolidWorks proficiency with 3D modeling.

Responsibilities

• Develop design solutions using DFMEA, P‑Diagrams, and DVP&R.
• Create CAD models and drawings for assemblies per product requirements.
• Ensure designs meet performance specs and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, and Suppliers.
• Create BOMs and support prototype testing and validation.
• Perform basic IP searches and support cost and productivity initiatives.

Summary

Role Overview

This position is a hands-on Mechanical Engineer with a focus on New Product Development. This role is responsible for supporting all efforts related to the design and development of Mechanical and Electro‑mechanical systems into our Outdoor Cooking products. In this role, you will work with a cross‑functional team to design and implement ideas using CAD models, drawings, cost estimates, prototyping, and testing products. This position will provide engineering support for assigned product development projects.

This is a hybrid role requiring in office days at our Palatine, IL campus.

Responsibilities

• Develop solutions through requirements decomposition, Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA), P‑Diagrams, and Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R)
• Create and refine design solutions for assemblies to identified product requirements, formalize designs with the use of CAD (SolidWorks)
• Ensure that products are designed to meet all performance specifications and regulatory requirements
• Work collaboratively with Quality, Manufacturing, and Suppliers
• Create models, drawings, and bill of material
• Support prototype creation and models to validate designs including hands‑on testing and iterative learning
• Designs and runs test plans related to project work
• Perform basic IP searches
• Supports non‑NPD initiatives including the resolution of quality issues, cost reductions, and productivity initiatives
• Develop unique and innovative solutions for unmet customer needs and/or new features to maintain product leadership

Qualifications

Education:

• Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Work Experience

• Minimum: 3 to 5 years’ experience in a relevant field
• Designing solutions that meet regulatory and safety requirements
• SolidWorks: Proficiency with 3D modeling

Salary Range: $80,000 - $91,000
