Zachry Nuclear Engineering, Inc. is seeking an engineer to perform civil/structural design tasks for power plant upgrades and new projects under supervision.

The role emphasizes evaluating conditions, applying standard engineering methods, and supporting senior staff to improve performance, safety, and reliability. Candidate should have a BS in civil (structural) engineering, knowledge of ACI/AISC/ASCE 7, and strong MS Office skills.

Qualifications

  • BS in civil (structural) engineering from an accredited program.
  • Knowledge of industry codes including ACI, AISC and ASCE 7.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to pass security and drug screening and obtain unescorted nuclear plant access.
  • Overtime may be required and travel to client sites will occur.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with calculations, modifications, and designs for power plant upgrades or new projects.
  • Work under supervision of senior engineering staff to evaluate conditions and develop design changes.
  • Collaborate with project teams to improve plant performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Perform walk downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, including ladders and confined spaces.

Job description

Successful candidate will be relied upon to perform a variety of engineering and design activities involving power plant upgrades and/or new power plant projects under the supervision of senior engineering staff. Successful candidate should have working knowledge of evaluation, selection and application of standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria. Individual will assist with performing calculations, modifications, and designs. Individual must possess technical knowledge of civil/structural discipline and ability to work on project teams with other engineers to assist in evaluating conditions and developing design changes which will improve plant performance, safety, and reliability.

Responsibilities

Education Required (minimum): BS in civil (structural) engineering from an accredited engineering program.

Experience Required (minimum): Demonstrated knowledge of industry codes including ACI, AISC and ASCE 7 is required. Knowledge can be demonstrated through academic record or work experience.

Qualifications

Other Required Qualifications (minimum): All applicants must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint is required. Effective time management skills are required as position may involve working on several projects concurrently. Successful candidate will be required to understand and comply with company policies, procedures, and processes. Ability to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access is required. Overtime work is required at times. Travel is required to client sites with periods of field/office work. Ability to perform walk downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, to include climbing ladders, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous areas is required.
