Job summary

Caterpillar seeks a Test and Validation Engineer at its Chillicothe, IL facility to advance engine performance and emissions development across marine, power, and locomotive platforms. You will perform calibrations, run lean engine tests, and analyze data to meet customer requirements and regulatory standards.

The role emphasizes 1-D thermodynamic engine simulation, DOE studies, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) and 4 years of experience as a Test & Validation Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or related occupation.
• Alternatively, a master’s degree with 2 years of related experience will be accepted.
• Experience must include 1-D thermodynamic engine simulation, DOE usage, diesel engine data analysis, and defect identification in engine hardware/software.

Responsibilities

• Perform performance and emissions development for marine, power, machinery, and locomotive engines.
• Conduct engine system calibrations to meet customer requirements and regulatory standards.
• Design, plan, and execute lean engine tests and develop comprehensive test plans.
• Analyze data, report results, and provide engineering recommendations to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with global teams and support product and technology programs.
