Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. seeks a Test and Validation Engineer at its Chillicothe facility in Illinois.

The role focuses on performance and emissions development for marine, power, and locomotive engines, using 1‑D thermodynamic simulations and advanced analysis tools to optimize combustion recipes. You will design and execute lean engine tests, create comprehensive plans, analyze data, and communicate results to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 4 years of experience; or Master’s degree with 2 years of experience.
• Experience with engine test and calibration, and emissions development.
• Proficiency in 1-D engine simulations and data analysis.
• Ability to communicate technical results to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Perform engine system calibrations to meet customer requirements and emissions standards.
• Plan, execute, and analyze engine tests using automation in a world‑class facility.
• Develop test plans, analyze data, and present conclusions to leadership.
• Collaborate with global teams and ensure design and manufacturing readiness.
• Support new products and technologies with program management tools.
