Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. seeks a Test and Validation Engineer to join our world-class engine test facility in Chillicothe, IL. You will perform engine system calibrations for diesel and spark-ignited engines, run 1-D simulations, and apply BIQ methods to ensure emissions compliance and product readiness.

You will mentor staff and collaborate globally on programs and new technologies. You will manage test plans, analyze data, and present findings to stakeholders, driving cost efficiency and reliability

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 4 years of relevant experience, or a master's with 2 years.
• Experience with 1-D engine simulation (GT Power or equivalent).
• Experience with DOE designs to map engine performance.
• Experience analyzing diesel engine performance data in lab settings and identifying defects for corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Perform engine system calibrations to meet customer requirements and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Design, plan, and execute engine tests; create comprehensive test plans and analyze data.
• Collaborate with global teams; communicate results via technical presentations and reports.
• Support development activities to schedules; resolve design/manufacturing issues with cross-functional teams.
