Job summary

Cowboy Space Corp. in the United States seeks an Engine Lead to own the engine program lifecycle from architecture to refurbishment.

You will serve as chief engineer, program manager, and lead systems engineer for a multi-disciplinary propulsion team. Lead design-for-reuse decisions, drive upgrades for reliability, and coordinate with vehicle integration, manufacturing, test, and launch operations to ensure a flight-proven, reusable engine.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of design, build, or test of rocket engines, combustion devices, turbopumps, or valves.
• Experience on one or more development engine programs through lifecycle stages.
• Ability to integrate a cross-disciplinary technical team.
• Strong systems engineering fundamentals in fast-paced development.
• Fundamentals in compressible flow, thermodynamics, combustion, control systems, cryogenics, instrumentation.
• Proficiency with data analysis of test data to engine health/performance.
• Hands-on fabrication and assembly of engine hardware.
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Own the engine program from development through flight.
• Develop engine operation procedures and limits with teams.
• Define and manage schedule and budget for the engine program.
• Define the verification and qualification plan for engine requirements and manage its execution.
• Participate in test and launch operations to make real-time engineering decisions on risks.
• Own the engine’s upgrade plan for improved reliability and faster production.
• Drive design-for-reuse decisions: inspection, life-limited parts, refurbishment, and acceptance criteria for reflown hardware.
