Job summary

Cowboy Space Corporation is seeking a Lead Configurator / Integrator to own the physical architecture of our engines and vehicle subsystems. You will route fluid conductors, package components, and design mounting hardware for flight-ready configurations.

You will work with propulsion, avionics, and mechanisms teams to ensure clean integration and manufacturability, guiding layout decisions from sketches to production-ready drawings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering.
• 5+ years of configuration design, systems integration, packaging, or layout engineering experience.
• High-level proficiency in 3D CAD (NX preferred) with large, multi-discipline assemblies.
• Strong understanding of structural loads, secondary structure design, and bracket/clamp architectures.
• Hands-on experience with hardware integration on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

• Own the configuration and packaging of engine assemblies and vehicle subsystems ensuring optimal tradeoffs between mass, volumetric efficiency, cost, and lead time.
• Design and route fluid conductors and small-bore lines across engines and vehicle systems; define routing paths to minimize pressure drop and interference.
• Design mounting hardware, brackets, clamps, and secondary structure; size and substantiate these for flight loads with hand methods and FEA.
• Drive layout decisions with assembly sequence, technician access, tool clearance, and refurbishment workflows.
• Coordinate with propulsion, avionics, and mechanisms teams to resolve spatial conflicts and interface boundaries.
• Own the master configuration models, envelope definitions, keep-out zones, and integration drawings.
• Evaluate packaging alternatives with quantified trade criteria: mass, pressure drop, structural margin, assembly time, maintenance access, and cost.
