Job summary

Cowboy Space Corp. is seeking an Engine Lead to own the complete engine program lifecycle, from architecture and design to production, testing, flight, and refurbishment. You will serve as chief engineer, program manager, and lead systems engineer for a multi-disciplinary propulsion team.

You will work with propulsion, mechanical, avionics, software, and test engineers to deliver a reusable, flight-proven engine integrated with the launch system and its lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of design/build/test of rocket engines or related propulsion equipment.
  • Experience across development lifecycle from concept through operations.
  • Ability to lead a multi-disciplinary technical team.

Responsibilities

  • Own the engine program from development through flight.
  • Define engine verification/qualification plan and manage execution.
  • Define schedules and budgets for the engine program.
  • Drive upgrade plans for reliability, reuse, and production rates.
  • Collaborate with vehicle integration, testing, and launch ops.

Skills

5+ years experience in rocket engines
Team leadership across propulsion/mech
Systems engineering fundamentals
Compressible flow/thermodynamics
Fluid analysis tools (Python, NPSS..)
Engine hardware fabrication/assembly
Excellent communication

Education

Bachelors in mechanical/aerospace engineering
