Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support teachers in multiple classrooms within elementary, middle, or high schools. The role includes aiding instructional activities, preparing materials, and reinforcing skills for diverse learners.

The IA will collaborate with staff, monitor student well-being, and participate in ongoing professional development. Employment may require CPI certification and emphasizes FERPA compliance and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Title I schools: meet ESSA requirements (Pub.L.114-95) and have one of: six semester hours in childhood education or two years of childhood setting experience.
• CPI certification may be required; CPI training provided through WCPSS.

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers in instructional activities and classroom management.
• Prepares materials and ensures resources are available for lessons.
• Collaborates with teachers to reinforce skills and concepts across curricula.
• Supports individual students or groups and monitors safety and well-being.
• Participates in district staff development and professional growth.
• Maintains confidentiality of student records per FERPA.
