Job summary

Wake County Public School System seeks an Instructional Assistant to support teachers in delivering instruction and maintaining a safe, engaging classroom environment. The IA will assist with planning, organizing, evaluating activities, and preparing materials to reinforce lessons across core subjects.

Strong knowledge of office software, ability to work with diverse student populations, and commitment to FERPA compliance are essential. Training on CPI may be provided if required by the school.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six semester hours in childhood education OR two years of work experience in a childhood setting (Title I schools).
• CPI certification may be required depending on school need; CPI training provided by WCPSS if needed.

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers with instructional activities and classroom management.
• Prepares materials and ensures resources are available for lessons.
• Supports individual students or small groups to reinforce skills and concepts.
• Participates in district staff development and ongoing professional growth.
• Maintains student safety and confidentiality per FERPA and policies.
