Job summary

Channel Islands YMCA in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking an Entry Level Part-Time Childwatch Leader. You will assist in planning, supervising, and implementing Childwatch programs.

You will provide quality care and supervision to children, maintain a safe environment, track attendance, and support lesson activities while ensuring HEPA standards are met and the program area remains clean. A flexible schedule and opportunities for growth are available.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Ability to obtain a criminal record clearance, if over 18 years old.
• Previous work experience in related role preferred.
• Complete required certifications within 60 days of hire.
• Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings as required within two weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, supervising, and implementing Childwatch programs in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Provide quality care and supervision to children (visual, proactive, interactive).
• Provide a safe environment for all children to thrive.
• Track attendance and ensure a valid membership is on file.
• Guide behaviors using positive methods, keeping in mind each child’s individual needs.
• Assist in supervising activities and lesson plans.
• Ensure the program is delivering Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards.
• Set up and clean-up of the program area including vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, trash removal, etc.
• Provides exceptional customer service and fosters connections with children and families.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Valid work permit required if a minor
