Job summary

Channel Islands YMCA in Ventura, CA is seeking an Entry level Part Time Childwatch Leader to support day programs for families and children at the Ventura Family YMCA. You will assist in planning, supervising, and implementing Childwatch activities, ensuring a safe, engaging environment with positive guidance and routine attendance tracking.

Responsibilities include supervising activities, adhering to HEPA standards, and maintaining clean program areas while delivering excellent customer service

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Ability to obtain a criminal record clearance, if over 18.
• High School diploma or equivalent; valid work permit required if a minor.
• Previous work experience in related role preferred.
• Complete required certifications within 60 days of hire.
• Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings as required within two weeks of hire.

• Assist in planning, supervising, and implementing Childwatch programs in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Provide quality care and supervision to children (visual, proactive, interactive).
• Provide a safe environment for all children to thrive.
• Track attendance and ensure a valid membership is on file.
• Guide behaviors using positive methods, keeping in mind each child’s individual needs.
• Assist in supervising activities and lesson plans.
• Ensure the program is delivering Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards.
• Set up and clean-up of the program area including vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, trash removal, etc.
• Provides exceptional customer service and fosters connections with children and families.
