Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County is seeking a part-time Child Watch Lead at Mission Valley YMCA. You will oversee the Child Watch program, ensure proper sign-in/out, and maintain a safe, engaging environment for children while coordinating with staff and parents.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, maintaining records, planning daily activities, and contributing to safety compliance and program quality. This role supports multiple departments and participates in trainings.

Qualifications

• 1+ year’s experience working with infants and children (2 months - 12 years).
• Ability to communicate with both young children and adults.
• Leadership and stability for program continuity.
• Fingerprinting and arrest notification required by licensing and funders.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certified (Adult and Child/Infant) within 30 days of hire from ARC/American Heart Association/American Safety & Health Institute.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operation of the Child Watch program.
• Ensure each child is signed in/out.
• Communicate professionally with parents, staff and children.
• Support positive discipline and safety policies.
• Maintain accurate records (attendance, waivers, emergency info, incident reports, supervisor’s log).
• Assist in evaluating staff effectiveness.
• Participate in housekeeping duties.
• Plan/supervise daily schedule and curriculum.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Provide support to other departments as needed.
