Job summary

Chess Wizards, Inc. is seeking enthusiastic instructors for its after-school chess program in Long Beach, CA.

Lead fun, interactive classes for elementary students, using our structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and sportsmanship while keeping sessions engaging and safe. Instructors teach 1–5 classes per week in the 2:00 PM–5:00 PM window at local schools, receive $55–$75 per class plus mileage reimbursement, and complete onboarding and training in summer before fall assignments

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children in educational, recreational, or mentoring settings.
• Ability to lead a class independently and create engaging, kid-friendly sessions.
• Strong, positive demeanor and reliability in a classroom environment.
• Excellent punctuality and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Use structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and promote sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively classroom with confidence and positivity.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity and critical thinking through chess.
• Follow school safety protocols during arrival, dismissal and in-class activities.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session.
