Job summary

Chess Wizards, Inc. is seeking enthusiastic, reliable instructors for its after-school enrichment program in Belmont, CA.

You will lead fun, interactive chess classes for elementary students, using a structured curriculum to teach fundamentals and sportsmanship, while maintaining a positive classroom environment. You'll join a team that offers flexible hours (1–5 classes per week), mileage reimbursement for travel, and full training with ongoing support.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children in educational, recreational, or mentoring settings.
• Ability to lead a class independently with engaging, friendly sessions.
• Professional, positive, kid-friendly demeanor.
• Strong commitment to promoting good sportsmanship.
• Solid understanding of chess fundamentals and ability to explain moves, basic strategy, and simple tactics to kids.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10-15 elementary students.
• Use structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively, positive classroom and keep students engaged.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Follow school safety protocols during arrival, dismissal, and in-class activities.
• Travel to local school sites for each session and arrive prepared.
