Job summary

Chess Wizards, Inc. is seeking enthusiastic instructors to join our after-school enrichment program in North Hollywood, CA. You will lead fun, interactive chess classes for elementary students, using our structured curriculum and promoting good sportsmanship.

Classes run weekday afternoons, typically 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Onboarding and training happen this summer, with teaching assignments starting in the fall. Earn $55–$75 per class (about 1.5 hours per session).

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children in educational, recreational, or mentoring settings.
• Ability to lead a class independently and create interactive, fun sessions.
• Professional, positive, kid-friendly demeanor and reliable transportation.
• Available weekday afternoons 2:00 PM–5:00 PM and able to travel between schools.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Use structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively classroom with confidence and positivity.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Follow school safety protocols during arrival, dismissal, and activities.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session.
• Arrive on time and prepared for each class.
