Job summary

AIG’s Summer Intern in the Underwriting - Energy department in New York offers hands-on experience evaluating energy risks and supporting underwriting decisions alongside experienced underwriters and specialists. You’ll build technical energy insurance knowledge in a global, collaborative environment.

Across a 9-week program from June 7 to August 6, 2027, interns participate in instructor-led masterclasses, mentoring circles, and networking with senior leaders, with potential consideration for

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support the evaluation and underwriting of risks across traditional and renewable energy, power generation, mining, petrochemicals, and related industries.
• Review underwriting submissions, operational information, financial data, and loss history to support risk selection, pricing, and coverage decisions.
• Collaborate with underwriters, risk engineers, claims professionals, and multinational specialists to develop tailored insurance solutions.
• Build relationships with brokers and clients while supporting new business and renewal opportunities.
• Monitor industry, regulatory, and emerging risk trends that may impact clients and underwriting decisions.
• Develop technical knowledge of energy insurance while building analytical, decision-making, and relationship-management skills.
