Job summary

AIG’s Summer Intern in the Underwriting - Energy department offers hands-on experience in a fast-moving, global insurance environment. You will work on current projects under the guidance of senior underwriters, risk engineers, and claims professionals in a collaborative setting.

The program runs for nine weeks, with in-person office work at least four days per week, and opportunities to learn core technical knowledge and professional skills in a diverse environment.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively, manage multiple priorities, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the evaluation and underwriting of risks across traditional and renewable energy, power generation, mining, petrochemicals, and related industries.
• Review underwriting submissions, operational information, financial data, and loss history to support risk selection, pricing, and coverage decisions.
• Collaborate with underwriters, risk engineers, claims professionals, and multinational specialists to develop tailored insurance solutions.
• Build relationships with brokers and clients while supporting new business and renewal opportunities.
• Monitor industry, regulatory, and emerging risk trends that may impact clients and underwriting decisions.
• Develop technical knowledge of energy insurance while building analytical, decision-making, and relationship-management skills.
