Job summary

Honeywell Technologies is seeking an Energy Systems Electrical Engineer to serve as the subject matter expert for the UMD NextGen Energy Program, focusing on electrical, instrumentation, and control systems at the UMD College Park campus.

You will analyze power systems, perform SKM/PTW studies, manage capital projects, coordinate with vendors, and support decarbonization goals, with strict on-site requirements five days per week.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Maryland or reciprocity.
• 10+ years of experience in electrical equipment and medium voltage distribution (≥13.8 kV).
• Experience with SKM Power*Tools for short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies.
• On-campus presence at UMD at least five days per week; available for emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the SME for electrical, instrumentation, and control components of UMD Energy Systems.
• Analyze, design, and operate medium voltage distribution systems and electric power generation.
• Perform power-system studies and load-flow analyses; coordinate campus expansion.
• Manage capital projects from design to completion per UMD criteria.
• Interface with vendors, subcontractors, and third‑party firms; ensure budget and KPIs.
