Job summary

Boston Public Schools seeks an experienced Energy, Utilities, and Building Systems professional to help implement and maintain our Energy Management program across BPS facilities.

The Senior Energy Management Specialist reports to the Director of Planning, Engineering, Sustainability, and Environment and will monitor building utilities using Building Management Systems to identify efficiency opportunities while balancing occupant comfort.

Qualifications

• BA or MA in energy and utility management, and building systems; the physical and natural sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, and environmental) and computer science and programming.
• 3-5 years of professional experience in energy management.
• Experience with budgeting.
• Experience communicating energy issues.
• Experience with implementing energy efficiency projects and reporting results.
• Ability to develop custom reports and analytic tools.
• Ability to learn new systems and technologies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the implementation and maintenance of the Boston Public Schools Energy Management Program.
• Advise Facilities Management on energy and utilities best practices within BPS buildings.
• Within 12 months of hiring, shall obtain Building Operator Certification (BOC).
• Shall conduct inspections of the Energy Management System (EMS).
• Shall assist in the maintenance of the Building Management System.
• Coordinate alarm monitoring with municipal protective services to maintain critical alarm coverage.
