Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Project Engineer I in our Energy Storage group to support field coordination, review plans, manage documentation, and drive timely project execution with professionalism and confidentiality.

This is a full-time traveler role based in CA, TX, AZ, OK, NM, UT, OH, or CO; final location determined by candidate preference and business needs. The base pay range is $84,100–$113,500 annually, with incentive eligibility and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management.
• Minimum of two years related construction experience.
• Detail orientation sufficient to organize and effectively manage multiple tasks.
• Strong understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
• Teamwork, initiative, communication, and problem-solving are required.
• Valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft persons.
• Implement the pre-construction quality plan and manage permits and expenses.
• Develop and maintain document controls and tracking lists; manage contract docs.
• Coordinate RFIs, submittals, Change Orders, and revisions to as-built docs.
• Mentor field engineers and coordinate safety and compliance across teams.
• Ensure project timelines are tracked and completed; communicate with PMs and superintendents.
