Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced construction estimator to join our team in Colorado. You will gather data, prepare estimates, and perform quantity takeoffs for diverse projects, coordinating with trade partners and preparing vendor comparisons.

The role supports lead estimators, trains junior staff, and contributes to bid analyses and RFP coordination. Strong math skills and software familiarity are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Estimating, or equivalent experience.
• Estimator I requires 1 year of construction ops experience with materials management.
• Estimator II requires 3 years of construction ops experience with materials management.
• Current driver’s license.
• Applicable mathematical skills.
• Familiarity with ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win, OST, Bluebeam/PDF, Google Earth.
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Positive, professional attitude and strong customer service.
• Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Construction industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gather, calculate, and compile data to produce project estimates.
• Prepare full estimates for smaller projects.
• Create project estimates.
• Complete quantity takeoffs and summations of materials.
• Solicit trade partners, obtain bid estimates and time projections.
• Prepare vendor proposal comparisons and estimate summary sheets.
• Prepare, organize, and coordinate RFP documents and schedules.
• Use schedule information to estimate GC and other schedule-driven items.
• Determine pricing options and appropriate project pricing.
• Support lead estimator with data input into estimating software.
• Perform archive filing and historical cost data gathering.
• Participate in plan and estimate review meetings, project review meetings, and site investigations as needed.
• Gather information from local government and private entities affecting projects, including permits and hearings.
• Manage addendum logs and customer/client documents.
• Provide direction to new estimators and engineers.
• Solicit new bidders and gather documents for future projects.
• May train other estimators and interns.

Requirements

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Estimating, Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering, or similar, or equivalent experience/field experience
• Estimator I: minimum one-year construction operations experience, including exposure to materials management and project operations
• Estimator II: minimum three years’ construction operations experience, including exposure to materials management and project operations
• Current driver’s license
• Applicable mathematical skills
• Familiarity with building/estimating techniques and software: ISqFt, ICE/Bid2Win, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Bluebeam/PDF, Google Earth
• Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks
• Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
• Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
• Must be currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
• Construction industry experience preferred
