Job summary

HEAPY is seeking a Building Optimization Engineer to join the Engineering team in Indianapolis. The role focuses on energy assessment, energy conservation, facility optimization, and commissioning studies, with emphasis on HVAC, lighting, and building systems.

The candidate will lead energy modeling reviews and validation efforts. Responsibilities include performing audits, energy calculations, and collaboration with design teams to implement ECMs, while mentoring colleagues and supporting

Qualifications

• Possession of a 4-year engineering or similar technical degree from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent working knowledge/experience.
• Typically requires 6-9 years of related experience in plumbing engineering systems in the built environment.
• Experience with computer software packages, instrumentation, and testing equipment.
• FE Certification and pursuing/holding CEM, CxA, CPP, or related credentials.

Responsibilities

• Lead energy studies, audits, and analysis of HVAC, lighting, and envelope systems.
• Perform system installation verification and functional testing.
• Validate equipment and controls for proper operation and performance improvements.
• Prepare energy calculations and reports for HVAC, lighting, standby power, and related systems.
• Mentor colleagues and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
