Ashurst Perkins Coie LLP, a leading international law firm, is hiring a mid-level associate for its Projects, Energy, Environment & Resources practice in Seattle, WA.

Requirements include 3–6 years in energy law (regulatory and transactional), a JD from an accredited school, and admission to practice in Washington. You will negotiate PPAs, advise on market design, and represent clients in FERC matters.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of experience in energy law with regulatory and transactional exposure.
• JD from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice (or eligibility for waiver) in Washington State.
• Knowledge of the Federal Power Act and power market mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate power purchase agreements and custom energy service agreements for developers, utilities, and corporate buyers.
• Advise on electric market design issues within RTOs/ISOs (e.g., PJM, MISO, SPP, ERCOT, CAISO).
• Represent clients in Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) proceedings and advise on related compliance.
• Counsel on emerging federal energy policy, renewable integration, and carbon-free procurement strategies.
