Domtar is seeking a Director of Energy Procurement to oversee North American energy purchases and sales contracts, lead a two-person team of Energy Managers, and guide budgeting, forecasting, and hedging strategies. The role partners with utilities and operations to optimize energy costs and sustainability alignment.

The position requires deep knowledge of electricity and natural gas markets, strong analytical skills, and collaboration across the organization.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of professional energy field experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and manage energy contracts with suppliers and utilities.
• Monitor regulatory and legislative activities affecting energy rates.
• Develop budgeting and forecasting guidance; assist treasury with hedging guidelines.
• Collaborate with departments to assess energy impact of investments.
• Recommend distribution rate mixes considering risk and region specifics.
• Lead and mentor two Energy Managers.
• Perform market analysis of electricity, gas, and alternatives.
• Incorporate sustainability into procurement strategies.
• Manage the financial impact of energy usage for operations.
