Job summary

Xcel Energy Inc. is offering a summer internship in electrical/power systems engineering in Minnesota.

The role will involve assisting engineers with commissioning, power system analysis, relay testing, and field visits to learn best practices. Successful candidates are students in ABET-accredited programs, able to work full-time in summer and part-time during the academic year, and willing to travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing an Electrical or Power Systems Engineering degree at an ABET-accredited college or university.
• Flexible to travel to project sites and attend in-person activities as required.
• Willingness to work full-time during summer and part-time during the school year.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with daily tasks including commissioning test plan creation.
• Perform power system analysis using software tools.
• Run relay tests in the lab and document results.
• Visit field sites with engineers to observe commissioning practices.
• Maintain and organize commissioning documentation.
