Job summary

Octopus Energy is seeking a versatile generalist to join its North America Flexibility-as-a-Service team. You’ll move between utility business development, wholesale market analysis, energy policy, and program delivery—often within the same week.

You’ll analyze markets, draft regulatory comments, build models and decks, and help shape dispatch strategies for DERs, virtual power plants, and demand flexibility. Expect a fast-moving, impactful role with real autonomy.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in energy, ideally near distributed energy resources, DERMS, or energy policy.
• Strong quantitative and data analysis chops; Excel expert, with Python, R, or SQL experience.
• Interdisciplinary thinker able to switch between commercial, analytical, regulatory, and delivery work.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; capable of persuasive presentations.
• Comfort with ambiguity and high ownership, moving from idea to delivery.
• Willingness to learn quickly in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• Help develop and win new commercial opportunities—support business development and RFP responses.
• Support program delivery, streamline operations, and help launch new projects.
• Analyze wholesale and retail energy markets to inform dispatch strategies and design.
• Support regulatory engagement—track proceedings and draft comments.
• Turn complex problems into clear analysis, sharp recommendations, and actionable decks.
• Build memos and materials that move deals, programs, or policy positions forward.
• Adapt quickly to changing needs and map out uncharted parts of the role.
