Job summary

Generate Capital in New York seeks an Associate in Acquisitions & Development to support energy M&A, project finance, and development activities. You will analyze acquisitions of distributed energy assets, model returns, and coordinate across legal, technical, tax, and financing teams through LOI to close.

You will also help with customer origination, preparing materials for complex counterparties and monitoring market dynamics in the data center and hyperscaler sectors.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of relevant experience in energy M&A, project finance, infrastructure PE, or IPP/developer roles with direct exposure to transaction execution.
• Hands-on experience underwriting distributed energy assets such as natural gas, solar, storage, or fuel cells.
• Strong financial modeling skills including IRR/yield analysis, cash flow forecasting, scenario/sensitivity analysis, and return attribution.
• Familiarity with C&I offtake, demand charge economics, and utility incentive programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial analysis and diligence on acquisitions of distributed energy and behind-the-meter assets, including IRR/yield analysis and cash flow forecasting.
• Coordinate across legal, technical, tax, and financing workstreams to support transaction execution from LOI through closing.
• Own project-level and portfolio-level financial models and contribute to investment memoranda and IC presentations.
• Support origination efforts by maintaining market maps, tracking opportunities, and preparing customer-facing materials.
