Job summary

Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) offers a structured 9–12 month Operator in Training program designed to prepare you to become a System Operator, supporting grid reliability across a broad region. You’ll learn through a formal curriculum and hands-on development activities while building industry knowledge.

• Bachelor’s degree in energy, engineering, business, or related technical fields.
• Relevant industry or transferrable work experience.
• Military experience in technical or operational energy systems.

Responsibilities

• Complete a 9–12 month training program to become a desk-qualified System Operator.
• Obtain NERC RC System Operator certification as part of the training.
• Commit to 36 months total with MISO including the training period.
