Job summary

Midcontinent-Independent System Operator (MISO) is offering an Operator in Training program designed to prepare individuals to support grid reliability across a multi-state region. The program spans 9–12 months and leads to NERC RC System Operator certification as part of the desk-qualification process.

Successful trainees will join the Generation & Interchange team for their first assignment, working with experienced control room operators in a collaborative environment and progressing toward

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in energy, engineering, business, or other technical fields is preferred.
• Relevant industry or transferrable work experience is desirable.
• Military experience in technical or operational specialties aligned to energy systems or critical operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a 9–12-month formal training program to prepare for System Operator responsibilities.
• Complete required certifications and training to become desk-qualified in control room operations.
• Collaborate with experienced operators and professionals to progress through the program and develop expertise.
