Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. in Minnesota is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager/Environmental Scientist to support environmental assessments, permitting, compliance, and reporting for electric transmission, solar, wind, and battery storage projects.

You will work with project managers to lead teams, manage scope, schedule, and budget, and interface with clients. The role offers opportunities for limited field work, report writing, and preparation of permit applications,

Qualifications

• Five years of related environmental consulting, permitting, or project delivery experience
• Experience supporting energy-related projects (transmission, wind, solar, BESS, or oil/gas)
• Knowledge of environmental science, permitting, regulatory strategy, or related disciplines
• Working knowledge of environmental sciences, biology, wetlands, land use, and environmental justice
• Permitting experience with utility regulators (e.g., Minnesota PUC, Wisconsin PSC)
• Experience with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service wind guidelines and NEPA processes
• Ability to mentor junior staff and manage project tasks, scope, and budgets
• Willingness to travel up to 15% for meetings and fieldwork

Responsibilities

• Coordinate project tasks, schedules, staffing, budgets, risks, and change management for diverse assignments
• Collaborate with clients, agencies, and internal teams to develop practical, science-based solutions
• Represent clients at public hearings, hearings open houses, and agency meetings
• Perform technical work and quality review of colleagues’ outputs
• Mentor and guide junior staff, support task assignments and knowledge transfer
• Support development of proposals, scopes of work, and delivery approaches for moderate complexity projects
• Identify client needs and opportunities to improve project delivery
