Job summary

Stantec’s Environmental Services practice seeks an experienced Assistant Project Manager/Environmental Scientist to provide environmental assessment, regulatory, permitting, compliance, reporting, and project delivery support for electric transmission, solar, wind, BESS, and oil/gas pipeline projects, primarily in Minnesota and Wisconsin. The role includes directing teams and interfacing with clients.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of related environmental consulting, permitting, regulatory, scientific, or project delivery experience.
• Experience supporting energy-related projects (electric transmission, wind, solar, BESS, oil/gas) or related infrastructure.
• Knowledge across environmental science, permitting, regulatory strategy, natural resource assessments, routing and siting.
• Strong written and verbal communication for reports and client updates.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% for meetings and field work.
• Professional credentials in the discipline preferred (e.g., PWS, CWB, PMP).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate tasks, schedules, budgets across broad, varied assignments independently and with oversight.
• Coordinate with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, science-based solutions.
• Support client representation at public hearings, open houses, regulatory meetings, and other forums.
• Perform technical work and provide quality review of work by other staff.
• Mentor and provide informal guidance to junior staff, including coaching and knowledge transfer.
• Support proposals, scopes of work, budgets, and delivery approaches for environmental projects.
