Job summary

Energy Infrastructure Partners LLC seeks an FA Engineer II in Chicago to perform building energy assessments, develop defensible savings estimates, and craft technical recommendations for ComEd facilities work.

The role blends on-site data collection, analysis, and stakeholder collaboration to identify practical energy improvements and drive program success. Five+ years of relevant experience and strong Excel/communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in mechanical/energy engineering or related field.
  • At least five years of building energy engineering or related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, controls, lighting, and energy systems.
  • Ability to develop transparent savings calculations per program methods.
  • Capable of field data collection and interpretation.
  • Excellent Excel skills and technical writing ability.
  • Clear communication with customers, contractors, and program staff.
  • Willingness to travel to Chicago-area facilities as required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough site assessments to establish existing conditions and identify energy opportunities.
  • Review utility data and equipment inventories to support savings calculations.
  • Evaluate HVAC, controls, lighting, and related systems for operational improvements.
  • Prepare prescriptive and custom savings estimates using approved methods.
  • Estimate energy and demand impacts and project costs; consider incentives.
  • Write concise assessment deliverables detailing conditions, measures, and considerations.
  • Review calculations and source data for accuracy before submission.
  • Collaborate with customers and contractors to refine scopes and support documentation.
  • Verify installed conditions and update savings estimates as needed after follow-ups.
  • Maintain organized calculation files and project records; communicate risks timely.
  • Share learnings to improve assessment methods, tools, and quality controls.
