Job summary

Energy Infrastructure Partners LLC (EIP) in Chicago seeks a FA Engineer II to support engineering assessments and project development for ComEd facilities work. The engineer will examine building performance, identify energy efficiency opportunities, develop defensible savings estimates, and prepare clear technical recommendations for customers and program teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • At least five years of relevant experience in energy assessments or related facility engineering work.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, lighting, controls, and other major energy-using systems.
  • Ability to develop and review transparent engineering calculations using program methods.
  • Ability to collect and interpret site data and perform facility visits safely.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with utility data and project tracking.
  • Clear technical writing and communication with customers and program staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and travel to Chicago-area facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct site assessments, interview personnel, document equipment, and inspect major energy-using systems.
  • Review utility bills and data; identify data gaps and validate assumptions.
  • Evaluate HVAC, lighting, building controls, and other systems for improvements.
  • Prepare prescriptive and custom savings calculations using program methods and engineering analysis.
  • Estimate energy and demand impacts, costs, incentives, and simple payback.
  • Write concise assessment reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Review calculations and source data for accuracy before submission.
  • Discuss findings with customers and contractors and support project documentation.
  • Verify installed equipment and update savings estimates as needed.
  • Maintain organized calculation files and project records; manage schedule risks.
  • Share recurring issues and improve assessment methods and tools.
