Job summary

Partner Engineering & Science, Inc. is seeking an Energy Engineer II in Newark, NJ to perform energy analyses, facility assessments, commissioning support, and whole-building energy modeling as part of our Energy & Sustainability consulting team.

You will contribute to project execution and client deliverables while growing into project leadership responsibilities. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in building systems and energy analysis and is ready to progress technical and leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 3+ years of relevant experience in energy efficiency or related consulting.
• Master’s degree in Engineering with 1+ year of related experience.
• Experience using energy modeling tools such as eQuest, EnergyPro, TRACE, and EnergyPlus.
• Experience analyzing building systems including HVAC, chillers, boilers, lighting, and controls.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to coordinate projects.

Responsibilities

• Conduct ASHRAE Level I, II, and III energy audits with support from senior staff across commercial assets.
• Perform whole-building energy modeling using industry-standard tools.
• Conduct field inspections and functional performance testing.
• Analyze building systems for energy-saving opportunities.
• Evaluate renewable energy opportunities and assist with feasibility analyses.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, and client-ready deliverables.
• Review submittals and documentation for technical accuracy.
• Manage small projects or defined workstreams with scheduling and budgeting.
• Support invoicing, forecasting, staffing coordination, and project recordkeeping.
• Communicate status and questions with clients and internal teams.
• Maintain utilization targets and deliver high-quality work on schedule.
