Job summary

USL Technology Consulting Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Energy Engineer to lead NYC LL87 work, ASHRAE Level II audits, and whole-building energy modeling using DesignBuilder (EnergyPlus). You will coordinate ECM analyses, RSMeans cost estimates, and RCx/OM&M measures within LEED/LL87 frameworks.

The role requires deep knowledge of LL87, LL97, NYCECC, and related NYC energy codes, with strong documentation and cross-discipline collaboration across BIM and architecture teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Building Science, or related field.
• Extensive experience with NYC Local Law 87, including ECM analysis and calculations.
• Interactive effects modeling and RCx/OM&M measures.
• Proficiency with DesignBuilder (EnergyPlus).
• Experience with One Click LCA for whole-building LCA modeling.
• Strong understanding of ASHRAE 90.1, NYCECC, NYStretch, LL87, LL97 and related NYC energy codes.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
• Excellent written communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and document whole-building energy models using DesignBuilder (EnergyPlus).
• Lead ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix G baseline vs. proposed modeling.
• Conduct parametric runs, sensitivity analyses, and system-level performance evaluations.
• Lead LL87 audits and prepare reports with narratives, tables, and compliance documentation.
• Prepare RSMeans-based cost estimates for ECMs, including implementation, maintenance, and lifecycle costs.
• Develop ECM packages, including SIR, NPV, and payback calculations.
• Support and document retro-commissioning (RCx) measures, functional testing, and deficiency tracking.
• Identify and document RCM and OM&M measures aligned with LL87 requirements.
• Prepare full LL87 audit reports, including narratives, tables, and compliance documentation.
