Job summary

Willdan is seeking a Verification Aide to join our innovative team in Madison, WI. You will work on building energy analysis within our simulation and verification group and assist with data collection, document review, and data analysis.

Responsibilities include supporting verification activities, reviewing construction docs, site inspections, and preparing energy savings calculations. 5% travel within the region is required; a related degree and strong Excel skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Building Science, Environmental Sustainability, or related field, or equivalent combo of education and experience.
• Basic understanding of building systems, construction processes, and energy efficiency concepts.
• Ability to follow established procedures and complete tasks with accuracy.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to organize multiple tasks in a structured environment.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to escalate as needed.
• Effective written and verbal communication with team members and supervisors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard office software.
• Willingness to learn new tools, processes, and concepts.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and take direction from supervisors.
• Ability to manage time and meet deadlines.
• 5% travel within the region.

Responsibilities

• Support verification activities by assisting with document review, data collection, and analysis under supervision.
• Assist in reviewing construction documents and performing quantity take-offs for lighting, controls, HVAC systems, and building envelope components.
• Perform data entry, validation, and basic analysis to support verification efforts.
• Prepare reports summarizing project data and energy savings calculations; ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Conduct site inspections and field data collection under supervision.
• Track and coordinate multiple projects at various stages of the verification process.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure timely delivery of tasks and deliverables.
• Conduct research on building technologies, energy efficiency measures, and program requirements.
• Follow QA/QC processes and escalate discrepancies when needed.
• Maintain organized project documentation per standards.
• Communicate progress and findings to supervisors and team members.
• Identify potential process improvements and share with team.
